So a quick post about the weekend

30 03 2009

It was a decent weekend.  Really tired though.

Friday

  • Took Alicia her lunch because she forgot it here at home
  • Took my BIO 100 test and did better than I thought I would do.
  • Had Enchiladas over at Kevin’s apartment
  • Fixed my music on my computer and made playlists and everything

Saturday

  • Went to Marissa’s Bridal Shower.  She will be a beautiful bride.  No joke
  • Went to Walmart with Alicia
  • Alicia and I dyed our hair.  I put highlights into her hair and we dyed mine blonde because throughout winter my hair has darkened a bit and it is now a lot more even.
  • We painted our nails while watching Veronica Mars

Sunday

  • Had church in the morning and we had an entertaining lesson about courtship.
  • Took a long nap
  • Got a text from a person I really didn’t expect to hear from
  • made cake balls for munch and mingle

I was really happy with how munch and mingle turned out.  Munch and Mingle is after ward prayer and so everyone is invited to go to different apartments and have treats.  I was told I did a wonderful job with it so yay.

My nose currently hurts.  Jarom went to give my roommate a hug and I was right behind her and got hit in the nose.  It feels like it is bruised but I didn’t see anything.  oh well.  It is still a funny story

Hilarious

So I thought I would warn you all about the post-it monster.  Make sure you check your closet before going to bed tonight…

Study Abroad or No Study Abroad

28 03 2009

So here is a big decision to make.  I am thinking about doing a study abroad program in New Zealand.  This certain program is mostly offered to my major, recreational management and youth leadership.

The program is January 11-April 9th, 2010 and it would cost about $5,200.  That includes tuition, room and board, equipment, and transportation in New Zealand.  I would have to pay my own way there though.

The classes they would offer are…
religious studies in a world setting
strengthening home and family
Family Recreation
Outdoor Skills (choose up to three out of backpacking, mountain biking, sea kayaking, surfing, and climbing)
Practicum (up to three hours)

Positive Points

  • I think it would be amazing to go backpacking through New Zealand.  Also surfing and climbing.  I would be a tough gal by the time I came back and then lifeguard.  Just imagine that tan.
  • I would also be able to get away from the snow because it will be winter up here and it will be summer down there.
  • Imagine all of the cute boys down there.
  • It is an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity.

Negative Points

  • Being away from friends and family where I can’t keep in touch with them as easily
  • The expense won’t be that much fun to pay.

So I guess, what are you thinking about it.  I will talk to my family tomorrow and see what they think and then make a decision for myself.

So Someone is Super Cute

24 03 2009

So I have kinda been down for the last couple days but I had reason to be excited tonight.  My cousins and I went to Tucanos Brazilian Grill for dinner.  I guess it was college night so we got dinner for lunch price (amazing deal). For those of you that don’t know what Tucanos is, it is a restaurant that gives you all you can eat salad bar and meat.  The meat is on swords and the servers walk around and cut off pieces of whatever you want.  The teriaki and garlic sirloin are amazing.  I also love the grilled pineapple.

So our host guy was really cute and nice.  I chose to leave my phone number with the check.  That definitely wasn’t something I would normally do but I chose to go out on a limb and do something new.  I am not expecting anything but I was still cute.

I am so dang full right now and any movement hurts.  I’m not joking.  When you go to Tucans you gotta eat your fill.

Thank You

18 03 2009

I just want to say that I know some of the most amazing people in the world.  Like no joke.  I am so grateful for the people I have in my life.

I have AWESOME roommates.  They are usually very supportive and recently they have been there for me while I have had so many issues and wanting to do the best I can but fall short.  Especially Alicia, I love spending time with that girl (even with her boy around) and I love making food with her or even cleaning.  She has been there for me no matter what is going on.

I also have FANTASTIC cousins.  Kimi, Alishia, and Becca will help me anytime I need them.  I remember a couple of instances that Becca has come to get me just to spend time with me.  I am so glad they are here with me at school.  Laura has also been a great help with listening to me and giving good advice through the gospel and reminding me about what is really important.

The ward here is INCREDIBLE.  I seriously believe that if any girl needs something here anyone will help in anyway they can.  I have been upset lately and I have so much chocolate and goodies that came from people here in my apartment complex.  We also had a number of car breakins and the guys set up their own night watch just to keep us safer.  That means a lot to me that the guys will drop anything for us girls.

Now for WONDERFUL home teachers and visiting teachers.  I kinda feel bad that they have to deal with me so much.  Just even just tonight I couldn’t sleep and went up to Lauren and Courtney’s apartment.  They chatted with me and got me to laugh and Lauren also gave me banana bread and chocolate milk.  I am a fan of good food/drink.  Levi and Dan has also been a great help.

I also have a few friends back home that are UNBELIEVABLE.  the ones I am thinking about will check up on me to see if things are going alright or just talk to me when I need someone.

I am so thankful for everyone in my life.  I really do feel like I am in the right spot right now and have the people around me that I need.  I also believe I can be that girl that can reach out and help other people.  So I guess I should share that if you need a friend or need anything at all let me know and I will whatever I can.

As the Weekend Comes to an End

16 03 2009

It wasn’t that eventful of a weekend.

Friday

  • I went with Alicia to her hair appointment and then went grocery shopping and through the car wash with her

    jones-multi-bottle

Saturday

  • Slept in but got woken up by noisy roommates multiple times
  • Made pecan caramel cheesecake with Alicia
  • Alicia and I cleaned the apartment.  Like seriously we moved the couches and vacuumed under them.  We also did laundry.
  • I fixed the ironing board (for those that don’t know, the knob thing came out and the ironing board wouldn’t fold down.  Adam, Jessica, and Alicia spent forever dealing with it and I got it down in like 2 minutes)
  • Alicia and I finished season 2 of Veronica Mars.  I can’t believe everything was Beaver’s fault.
  • Made Quiche
  • Went to Ballet Showcase to see Alicia’s choreographing.  Pretty much amazing.
  • Alicia’s family came over for cheesecake.
  • Adam, Alicia, and I watched Big Bang Theory

Sunday

  • woke up not feeling well (bad dream that night really left me feeling unsettle)
  • It was my sister’s 18th birthday so I called home
  • went to visit apartment 34 and visited with Nate for awhile.  He is a total sweetheart for sure.
  • Watched the Last Mimzy
  • Did my toe nails
  • Went to Ward Prayer
  • Chatted with Rosalinda

According to this I did a lot but I spent a lot of time being bored.

For all of you that might already know, I missed a test in “Intro to Family Processes” cuz I didn’t know their was a time deadline so I missed it by a few hours.  I was really scared to email the teacher because of the fact that I failed the class last year thanks to having 2 friends pass away within 2 weeks of each other and I coped by throwing myself into work. (not smart) however, I finally emailed the teacher and he is allowing me to take the test without any points being docked off.  I am so excited about that.

A Funny Story

15 03 2009

So I was just laying in bed thinking and I remembered this story from last summer.

For like a week our laundry room kept getting screwed up.  This room is adjacent to the outside and we usually keep our cats in there at night cuz it is the best place to keep the litter box and there food because they constantly knock over their water.  Anyways, a few of the things that were happening were that things were getting knocked off the shelves and all of the cat food was eaten faster than normal.  The worst was the smell.  It took us awhile to figure out what the smell was but their was poop smeared everywhere behind the washer and dryer.  Good thing I was at work when my mom figured this out so I didn’t have to help clean it up.  I was gagging every time I was in that room.  We didn’t know what was going on because the cats usually were smart enough to get rid of their wastes in the litter box and they never smeared it around (Rosebud and Paddington are pretty lazy)

One day I decided to have friends over to hang out cuz I had the day off and I was cleaning up the house.  I had picked up some papers and was taking them to the recycle in the laundry room.  For some reason I looked inside the paper recycling bin and saw a possum.  I started screaming and ran into the kitchen yelling for my mom.  She came down to ask what in the world was going on cuz I don’t scream that often (ask my roommates, I don’t scream) but I told my mom and she asked me if I closed the door to the laundry room.  Sadly, I didn’t think to do that.  Thank goodness it was the middle of the day so the possum was asleep.

Now what do you do when you find a possum in your house?  My mom grabbed a cookie sheet and placed it on top of the recycling bin and went out to the backyard.  She then realized it wouldn’t be a very bright idea to let it out in the backyard.  Well, lucky for us, the Umatilla River is a block away.  Neither one of us wanted to take it down there so I took out my phone and called Leidon.  He is a neighbor boy that is always at our house.  I didn’t tell him what was up.  Just that he needed to get to our house now.  He tried getting out of it cuz his friend, Jacob, was over.  Finally I convinced him to stop playing video games for just a minute.  As soon as he and Jacob showed up and figured out what was going on he got really excited and wanted to see the possum.  we made them take it down to the river.  When they got back Leidon pretended that the possum didn’t leave and threw the recycling bin at us.  Not funny.

So that is my funny story of finding a possum in my house last summer.
