Personal Revelation and Testimony

13 11 2011

Revelation is communication from God to His children.  We each individually have access to receive revelation for ourselves.  These are some tidbits from a talk given by Barbara Thompson, second counselor of the General Relief Society Presidency.

Have ye inquired of the Lord?

5 steps to receiving revelation

1. desire to receive revelation

2. not harden our heats

3. Ask in Faith

4. Truly believe that we will receive an answer

5. Diligently keep the commandments of of God

  • Following this pattern does not mean that every time we ask a question of God, the answer will immediately appear with every detail of what to do.  However, it does mean that if we diligently keep the commandments and ask in faith answers will come in the Lord’s own way and in His time.
  • Our testimonies fortify us and strengthen us as we face challenges in our daily lives
  • Elder David A. Bednar has taught us.  “As you appropriately seek for and apply unto the spirit of revelation.  I promise you will walk in the light of the Lord.”
  •  Sometimes the spirit of revelation will operate immediately and intensely, other times subtly and gradually, and often so delicately you may not ever consciously recognize it.
